New Multiplus-II 5kVA manufacturer's G98 3.68kW limit in firmware 510
Some very good news for those households that only require a 3.68kW G98 compliant inverter. To date you very much had one Multiplus-II G98 2.4kW (3kVA) option with the 4.4kW (5kVA) model and above all requiring a G99/G100-2 applications with DNO's often demanding output limits to be implemented given the G98/G99 gridcode was a combined setting.
One downside of this was that a 2.4kW inverter was maybe just not enough whereas the 4.4kW and G99 application process may have deterred some given the need to do configuration and even demonstrate this was done correctly.
The solution. In version 510 of the latest firmware, you may have read the G98 and G99 gridcodes were no longer combined. The benefit of doing this may not have been that obvious. The advantage is that with a G98 grid code set, the 5kVA models becomes a fully compliant 3.68kW inverter with output/export limited without further messing about.
A further important aspect is that unless any inverter exceeding the 3.68kW is offered with a manufacturer controlled limiting function "out of the box so to speak", it could never be passed off as a G98 device despite questionable some installers configuring it with limits and submitting G98 notifications.
While it may not necessarily be for everyone, it at least will make life so easier for many Victron fans in the future.
